Despite arriving later in the Kansai area than Tokyo, the Super Famicom classic controllers for Wii have finally been sent out to Club Nintendo Platinum members. The controllers are an exact replica of the original Super Famicom controllers that were released in Japan, but have a classic controller plug, for that authentic Super Famicom experience when playing games on Virtual Console.
Obviously, because of the lack of analog sticks and a number of buttons, the controller will not work on a number of titles, including Nintendo 64 Virtual Console releases. It also cannot be used in Wii games that support the classic controller.
If you were not eligible for Platinum status for 2007 at Club Nintendo, or do not live in Japan, there is still hope. The controllers are being sold through both Play Asia and Yes Asia for a nominal fee.
