Den Den Weekend Clean up Part II

dendenheader2.jpg

This weekend was the first time in almost 3 months I have had the chance to hit Den Den Town in Osaka. Considered the Akihabara of Kansai, Den Den Town is the best place to go to find a variety of rare games and consoles, collector’s edition goods, soundtrack, and even anime and gaming related figures.

I usually have fairly good luck finding rare games during a visit to Den Den Town, and today was no different. I went to Nippombashi (日本橋) with RK, fully prepared to pick up a copy of the Gyakuten Saiban 4 (逆転裁判4) collector’s edition. It not only comes with ostentatious, ugly red headphones, but also comes packed with an encyclopedia that chronicles the entire series history, including character profiles and case evidence.

What I came home with was something entirely different. While in Retro TV Game Revival, I found none of other than a copy of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for MSX in mint condition. Having never actually seen the game in a store before, I felt I had to pick it up, especially considering its pristine condition.

I also picked up a Link figure from Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I wasn’t even aware these figures even existed, but I couldn’t resist. The figure is about 4″ high, and really well detailed, considering the 300円 price tag.

How much did you pay for Solid Snake? I’ve seen it go for $200+ in a private auction. Never seen it on eBay, congratulations - awesome game.

I got MG2 for approximately $148 USD (16800 yen). It was a deal I just could NOT pass up.

Man, that’s still a sweet bargain.

I agree! I’m going to miss the sweet deals here when I finally move somewhere else. :(
